Michael LongleyMichael Longley is a leading figure in contemporary Irish poetry. He has published nine poetry collections, among them Gorse Fires (1991), winner of the Whitbread Poetry Award, and The Weather in Japan (2000) which won the Hawthorn Prize, the T S Eliot Prize and the Irish Times Poetry Prize. His Collected Poems was published by Jonathan Cape in 2006. His most recent collection A Hundred Doors won the 2011 Irish Times Poetry Now Award. In 2001 he received the Queen’s Gold Medal for Poetry. He was Ireland Professor of Poetry from 2007 to 2010. He is at present working on a new collection and a memoir. His selection of Robert Graves’s poems will be published by Faber in June 2013.
